My project was largely inspired by the death scene in "The Green Night" (Picture #1) and a song I was listening to while brainstorming (Linked in my Project 3 Brainstorm Blog). The scene of a body decomposing in the forest as time passes quickly in the background seemed to fit perfectly with the music.
I knew immediately that hand-drawing my animations would be the best way to build my project. The process would be very time consuming but like I said, I had an exact goal of how I wanted to make this look and I felt like I couldn't do it any other way.
Before anything else, I got footage of me hiking and sitting down/falling asleep up against a tree, then waking up in the same position. I edited all the footage in premiere and had completed my entire video portion before getting started in Adobe Animate.
To start my animation, I took a screenshot of the frame where I would switch from video to animation and traced the entirety of it. This established the scenery and also helped me largely avoid having to animate my body that much. I spent 10+ hours on completing my animation and once it was finished, it was a grand total of 12 seconds long. I slowed the frame rate down and slowed the video to about 34 seconds; slow enough that the viewer could notice all of the little things happening on-screen but still fast enough that the frame rate wasn't choppy.
When I put it all together, I was more than satisfied with the final product. While it could have used more time (like any work of art) I was still satisfied by my ability to see the end goal in my mind and then achieve it a couple of weeks later.
