This project began as a concise piece; it was originally supposed to be a zine about my bedtime routine and the thoughts in your head right before you fall asleep. It ended up being much more adventurous, as I decided to illustrate a dream I had earlier this year instead. The zine covers most of my dream fairly accurately and hold together a dreamlike plot line (a little all-over the place).
I immediately designated the more complex scenes and centerfold as photoshop pages because I knew that I wanted to build these scenes with more detail than Illustrator would allow. The final scene before I wake up from my dream is confusing enough as is; using photoshop made the pieces of that scene identifiable and more believable as a "right before you wake up" scene.
Using illustrator for the "progression" scenes in between the more detailed photoshop pages worked out perfectly. The viewer is able to quickly interpret which direction the story is moving in and allows more time to be spent examining the photoshop pages.
